Our lakes are free of ice by about the end of April. By the third Saturday in May we have warm, spring-like temperature. But when you come in May, you are wise to bring a wind proof rain-suit and a warm sweater. If the wind blows from the north in May, it can be chilly when you sit still in a boat for a long time.

Walley season opens here always on the third Saturday in May. That is usually an excellent week to fish for walleyes.

This picture was taken on a cool and cloudy day in the third week of May. Note the warm jacket. Usually the leaves are not yet out as you can tell from the aspens in the distance, behind the evergreens.

May fishing for walleyes is very good

In June you should be prepared for heat as well as for cool days. It can be 90 F. one day and drop down to 60 F. over night. This is particularly true for the first half of June. You should bring a wind proof jacket and a good warm sweater.

In July we get surprisingly warm days even this far north. Usually the temperature is in the 70s but sometimes we see high 80s. Our cabins have air conditioners. At night the temperature drops quickly and air conditioning is not needed after about 11 pm.

In the fall, the weather is warm and pleasant enough to fish till the end of September. But the warm sweater rule applies to September as well. Indian summer in October

Even in October we get lovely Indian Summmer weather but cold over-night temperature can cause our water pipes to freeze towards morning. There have been many years when we could have kept the cabins open till the middle of October, but one never knows in advance how it will turn out.

The picture shows the path to Cabin No. 1 in the first half of a typical October.
