This hiking trail is known as The Michael Levesque Trail in honour of the man who made it. It will take you right into the forest. The trail consist of a long and a short loop. You can walk from our boatdocks to where the trail begins in about 10 minutes.

TRAIL1 (11K)

Once on the trail, a leisurely pace will take you through the long loop in about one hour and fifteen minutes. A shorter loop takes about forty minutes.

You will walk through a mixed forest consisting mainly of spruce, poplar, birch, balsam and cedar. The trail follows at first the bank of the Nebskwashi River and then curves round and along the Kebsquasheshing River. The former is also called the Back-River and the latter the Front-River.

Here is more info about the trail and how to get there.

It will take you 15 minutes to walk to where the trail starts. You can of course drive there as well. Here is how you get to the trail's beginning.

TRAIL2 (21K)
  1. Follow Birch Street (Chapleau's main street) to the east until it makes a bend and becomes Riverside Drive.
  2. Walk past the school on your left and continue till you are about 100 yards from the gate of the town's sewage treatment plant.
  3. Go on the grassy area to your right, adjacent to the river. The trail begins at the grassy area, under the big spruce tree. There is a sign at the trail head.
