The Town of Chapleau permits free overnight parking in a very convenient location next to the lake and within walking distance of all stores and services.

The place is an empty lot at the north end of Lorne Street, right next to the lake. Here is the easiest way to get there:

  • Immediately after you have crossed the large railway over-pass, turn left (east) onto Pine Street.


  • Go along for three blocks to Lorne Street and turn left (north). You will see an empty space on the right adjacent to the lake. The boat launch is there as well.
Or, if you have missed the turn onto Pine Street, drive east along Chapleau's Main business street (Birch Street) until you come to the four-way stop with the flashing light. Turn left at the four-way stop (Lorne Street) and drive to the empty space by the lake.

From there you can walk to a supermarket and other stores in 5 minutes. Please be sure to put any trash into the waste containers. Please note that there is no dumping station. Fresh water can be obtained at gas stations in Chapleau.
